'She said giving us the kittens was a lapse of judgment': Unhinged cat rescuer demands kittens back after couple adopts them and the momma cat, claiming she gave them the kittens by mistake

We have made a lot of mistakes in our lives, but giving people a momma cat and two kittens has not been one of them. We've accidentally sent a message meant for our friends to our work group chat, and we've had a 10-minute conversation with a black shirt that we were absolutely sure was our black cat, Pierre, but we've never mistakenly given cats away. There are so many steps involved in giving cats away that it's not one mistake, it's at least five, if not more. 

That's why we're calling out the unhinged cat rescuer in this post - we think she's pawsitively lying through the skin of her teeth. She found a pregnant cat, rescued her, and she gave birth to two cute kittens later. Wanting to keep all three cats together, she looked for people willing to adopt three cats, and as you can imagine, there aren't many people willing to adopt three cats (with two of them being kittens) all at once.

Luckily, the couple in this post opened their hearts and homes to the feline family. Overjoyed, the rescuer treated them with the utmost kindness and handed over the cats to their new pawrents. Days later, she flipped the script entirely, saying that giving them the cats was a "lapse of judgment". Uh-huh, sure. And our cats never wake us up at 5:30 AM, screaming for food. We'll leave it up to you to decide whether you think she's fibbing or not, but we're pawsitively certain something fishy was going on.

    This is going to be long because I don't even know where to start. I and my boyfriend (both 21) moved into our own apartment in early July. We have one cat who, living with his mom, was around multiple other cats and when we moved we only took her and I could tell she was getting lonely.     Here's what happened, she thought she could sell them, she wasn't getting any bites and so decided to just give them away so she didn't have the hassle, then someone popped up and took the bait wanting to buy them and this is the only reason she wants them back.

    Everything about her story is sketchy . They can call the cops if they want but chances are you likely have text messages about the kittens AND a post on Nextdoor. She has no recourse here. Keep the cats, she can pound salt.

    Even if that's not the case where you are, it's worth mentioning that those 5 week old kittens shouldn't be separated from the mama, and since she clearly stated that you rightfully have mama, then you rightfully have her babies.

    Either way, NTAH. Don't give them back. She's clearly unhinged, and they really shouldn't be separated from their litter and mama at 5 weeks. 12 weeks would be best if you were to re-home.
